Critical making 3D
This week was 3D printing because I am from product design and have done that before I also wanted to help other people this week.

The assignment was to make a casing for the electronics your were given to make a critical device. At first we all got an electronic device to take apart. This was to help us how a casing is made and how it stays together. Katharina and I got a childrens toy wich was almost impossible to open. We think it was because a child would otherwise swallow the small parts on the inside.

Kat and my assignment was a bit difficult to understand. We had to read it at least 10 times to understand the assignment.
We had 7 electronics to put in our device. We measured them all and tried to figure out how to make something to hold them in place. Looking back I forgot to put on of the buttons in the device.
The assignment create a device that records video and audio. The device which recording will help against the NYPD. In court the word of a police (wo)man is believed more than someone else. The device makes it also possible to view your rights on a screen. Kat and I discussed different options for casings: a box, a necklace or a gun. We ended up with the last one. Gun control is still being debated in Amerika. We thought to criticize this is to make a device which will record what is happening in the shape of a gun. This will hopefully inspire people to question there laws and rights.
I would have liked to help Kat more with her 3D shape. She whanted to figure it out for her self. I offerd her that after this week I still can help her with the shape and 3D print it togetter.
I ended up helping other people with little things and helped Moritz with cura and 3D printing it in pink.
In the end it all fitted nicely in the device. I ended up printing one half again because the screen did not fit perfectly. When in the end I screwed it all together en tested some buttons some parts broke inside. This made the joystick not fit properly and wobble around. Looking back I would have made some parts thicker and sturdier to handle some pressure.
I didn't whaned that the gun looked to realistic that was not the point. The point was to critic the way things are in Amerika. This is why I opted more for a toy gun.
These are some iterations in the design proces. At first the barrel was to small to hold the electronics
It was hard for me to make a design object in one week. Normally I have weeks to make something and to perfect it. This was hard for me to let go. This made me hate some details and decisions I made.

I made the device in two halves this made easier to screw all the electronic to the casing. I ended up printing it on my own 3D printer. This made the quality of the layers less.
