Cultural interfaces
For most of this week I was ill, most of the work you see on this page was done the week after. It started with the workshop with Moritz which gave us a good start at processing. The beginning went well. when the code got bigger it was a bit hard to follow where certain lines of code should go. At the end of the day Kaj and Wouters helped me hooked up my sensor to processing.
My sister is easily overwhelmed if the room gets too crowded with people. Some people find it had to visualize this and understand it. This was the reason why I wanted to incorporate this in the project for this week. The idea is to have a people counter and the screen gets more crazy with a higher number of people.
I collaborated with my boyfriend because he knows how to code. He is not really familiar with JAVA so figured it out together. We encountered different problems like the balls staying in one place. OR just going all over the place. The idea was to have balls who roam around in a room like people. When the balls worked the people counter didn't work any more.

Do you already feel overwelmd?
I will continue to learn more about coding. It seems fun, but a bit hard to understand fully in 1 week. I will continue using processing it seems a good way to start at coding. The possibilities are endless!

Part 2:
I wanted to simplify the human body shape, to make it more easy for myself. I chose a round because it was the one most close to a human shape from the primitive shapes. I also thought the constant random colours would add to the chaos. My bias idea is that moving object are more overwhelming( I do thing most people perceive it this way). I used UV-sensor for counting the people. This will not work 100% accurate because sometimes the sensor thinks there are multiple people coming by when in fact it is just one person standing at the border of where the sensor "sees" you or not. The limit of people is close to 100 after this number the counter still works but the frame rate drops dramatically, although this can add an not designed overwhelming effect.
A picture I still had from a previous iteration. I thought the esthetics of this on are interesting. I didn't use this on because it was less overwhelming.
