kick-off

In couples we made drawing of each other without looking at the paper and not lifting the pen of the paper. This exersize made crazy hilarius drawings. The drawing on the left is a portrait of Audrey. On the right is a portait audrey did for me. After this we intervieuwd each other to get a better idea of eachother.
The assinment for the week was to make a interactive portrait for the person with sound. the protrait hade to visualise the person and there values. though this assigment we learned different digital making skills (lasercutting/ engraving, plotting, vacuumsforming and UVprinting).

This week was all about learning new technics and helping each other. The portraits sown down here are all made with different technics.
The fist one is the drawing made digital using illustator. this ou-line vector file is usable for the lasercutter shown in picure 2 and with some tweeking usable for a 3d printer.

1. The plotting machine is a bit tricky to use. For the best result with the vinyl sticker you need no bubbles.
2. don't make to small parts because it is easy to break or tear them.

Collaborating with Andy:
Figuring out which materials are conductive and how to connect the pcb-board to it.
We made the drawing with the conductive ink together (using the vinyl sticker). We found out that the viscosity of paint is high and it dries quickly. This made it hard to remove the sticker from the paper, the small sticker parts are still on the paper. He helpt me with the electronics.

After the interwieuw with Audrey I also observed her for the week. I notised that she daydreams a lott. You will see her staring out of the window. With this in mind I wanted to make a 'mobile'. After narowing her interest and values down to 3, to combine them with the mobile.

The end result is a laser cut mobile with wire connected to Audrey's portrait. When you touch one of the conductive portrait a sound will start. The top one with the french border, is about her friends she misses a lot and going to bars together. The second one is humor which is to her the most important value. The last one is a snake with snake sounds, she is terrified of snakes and will never hold or touch one. This fake snake is the closes she will come to touching a snake ever.
